Shimano 200gt drag fix?

I have a newer shimano 2000gt reel that I can't get the drag to tighten down no matter how much I turn the drag knob. This is a reel that has only been used a couple of times.

Need to send it in or get the new drag washer. I had 6 of these and Shimano and a very cool forum friend in the tackle business took care of this issue! :)

Love the old Shimano 4000GTs....they have a few quirks...such as handles which like to loosen and come off.....and a loosening seat on some...but otherwise...NO complaints on those oldies!

It is most likely one of the orginal reels that came out a couple years and probley has not had the retro kit put into it yet ..... do you know where you bought it they should be able to take care of you... If not pretty sure Shimano will help you out :)

Not necessarily true...I bought one of the new ones last year and the problem was suppose to be fixed, the box that it came in was even marked as being fixed, but it had the issue that the drag knob just kept turning rather than tightening.. I got the boys at Harbour chandler to send my reel off to Shimano and they fixed the issue. I bought two of the reels within 2 months of each other the first one worked well and the one that came from the newer batch did not. Shimano did fix the issue however and the reel works fine now. But as derby said just take it to whoever you bought it from and have them send it off to Shimano.
