She is just not the same. (176 DE)

For my 17 Campion Red Hot I had built a fish hold between the stringers in between the sleeper seats. Worked great. I built an aluminum frame on which a 1.2 x 0.5 x 0.4 m stainless trough sat. The trough was removeable with no drains. But below the trough was the open channel between the stringers to the bilge - in case of a spill - easy clean up. The trough sat recessed deep enough to fit a 1/2" ply stainless framed lid on top for walking across. The total fish storage was maybe not quite as much as currently in yours but close I'd say. It maxed out the space between the stringers. It wouldn't fit any halis over 20 lbs though. The nice thing about such a removeable trough is that you don't need to transfer your catch into a tub, bag or bucket to carry it to the fish cleaning station.
Good luck, I am sure you'll come up with a good idea. Can't wait to see it!

After opening up the floor any signs of where the water was coming from?
Not sure yet. I hope to have more answers next couple of days. When I looked Friday they only had part of the floor out. They should have got it all out and cleaned up on Friday so it could dry over the weekend. If I do not get update today I will call to check in tomorrow. Was hoping to get back in the water before the coho are gone.

If you decide on a floor hatch ,don't drain into the bilge, have a sealed compartment. The fish blood etc. will stink the boat up in places you can't get to to clean.
OK. Back to the fish hold. Sounds like if I put a drain in it will just run into the bottom of boat which does not make sense. I envisioned a PVC tube running under the fuel tank to the back but I guess I had clouded vision. I like to think I know a lot about fishing and boating but apparently I don't know much about boat construction and alterations.
So talk to me about a sealed fish hold. How do you clean it and get blood out of it? My old hold with drain I just threw soapy water in, cleaned, then flushed with clean water. Everything drained to the stern and bilge pump took care of it.

Anyone?
Adding the fish hold has turned out to be pricey. I need a hold but can’t wrap my head around not having a drain. A liner sounds good but having it custom liner made would be costly also.

A fish tub that fits the hold will be far less in my opinion. Alum or stainless.
Doesn't have to be custom as long as it will drop into the hold.

The stainless steel fish tub is approximately: L 39-1/2" x W 9" x H 18". Top edge: L 41-3/4" x W 11-1/4". 3/4" painted plywood top.

I may go with no drain and try to find a liner to fit. Ideally I would like a 2" pipe running to the bilge in stern but not sure that is an options.
I am speaking with shop today. That is why I am scrambling to gather some options.

If they can do that, buy a truck load of chlorox to kill the constant stench

I had no issues with my old hold with drain. Most below deck holds I have seen have a drain. That is why I am having trouble wrapping my head around the no drain. I hate the photos I see of posted with fish sitting in a tub of liquid. Thats no good for fish. And cleaning and drying the hold.

The reason I posted that was I had a buddy with a 22' Arima with a fish hold that drained into the bilge and I could barely stand fishing on his boat

Thanks. I could certainly understand that if the hold is forward in the boat and drains into the bottom of boat with out some sort of plumbing leading to the stern. My original hatch was in the deck and drained close to the stern so no where for stuff to get stuck and rot. The short trough led to bilge pump.

The lodge Boat I use is a custom DE 18 and it has the fish hold between the seats on floor and there is a drain going all the way back to the bildge area and I have just a simple bildge in it , BUT as soon I get the fish I throw water in it and cut its gills the blood doesnt congeal then.
I do that same on the bluewolf .
At end of day I have soapy bleachy water when I get back to lodge dock quick rinse and shes good. and FYI 3 years of hard use and same bilge and thats out everyday for 5 months of use.. put the drain in it be more then fine.....

Been a long process but I've been in no rush and she has been comfortable in a heated shop while getting work done. Got the call today that she is ready to come home. I'll be picking up on Thursday. Plan to sea trial on the weekend. Excited to see and run the final results. Pics and report to follow.

Went to pick up yesterday and over all looks great. Unfortunately they used white sikaflex around base of seats when they put back in. It was grey and the white looks bad so had to leave it to have that fixed.
Took a couple of quick photos. I’ll take better pictures whe I pick up next week. Mud in photos is from my feet while inspecting.
