A member was asking about my new antenna so I thought I’d post here. Pretty simple install just an extra 12v wire, that has a 1/2 inch by 1 inch box in line and a small fuse, running alongside the vhf radio line. I connected it to my running lights. So it won’t be on at anchor, but I might change that! Trotac and Harbour Chandler should have them in stock but call ahead. Amazon has them too #ad https://amzn.to/3ZcTTMQ
Special thanks to a member who offered his old antenna after my new shakespear 5100 broke. It was mounted in the wrong spot and I thought briefly about moving it but didn’t, my mistake it was hard to get around it to get to the front of the boat and I had a perfectly good spot to mount it on the radar arch.
For toughness the Galaxy Antenna lasted 16 years or so. Not sure about the toughness of this material but I like it better then the basic 5101
