Closing soon (14 March 2023): Win an Islander MR-3 mooching reel, or 1 of 10 $100 gift certificates
for Gibbs Fishing, by completing this survey for the Sport Fishing Institute of British Columbia (SFI)
and University of Victoria (UVic) to understand how recreational fishers in tidal waters in BC are being
impacted by management measures and your support and concerns for different measures.
We will close the survey on 14 March 2023 and do the drawing for the prizes soon after.
Participation is voluntary and involves filling out a survey, which takes approximately 25 to 30
minutes. After completing the survey, you can enter your contact information for a raffle to win an
Islander MR-3 mooching reel (green, engraved with the SFI logo), or 1 of 10 $100 gift certificates for Gibbs Fishing.

This study is a collaboration between researchers at UVic and SFI with funding from the BC Salmon
Restoration and Innovation Fund and the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of
Canada. If you have questions about this study, or the survey, please contact UVic researchers Natalie
Ban (nban@uvic.ca) and Jesse Sayles (jessesayles@uvic.ca), or UVic's Human Research Ethics Office

It was thorough for sure. Hard not to feel like it was skewed our way though. But I guess that's the way this battle is playing out.
It's funny when it gives you an opportunity to tell what you really feel and actually comment on what you think is the issue, you feel it is biased.

Oh, look at the freedom in this survey! It must be biased.
Although my forehead is still extremely sore from banging it against the wall and desk while completing the SKRW "survey", so I could be confused.

Many thanks to those who are participating in the Survey. This research will help inform fishery management about what the effects of management measures has on choices fishers make - do they stop fishing, shift locations, spend more or less etc? It also helps gain valuable insights into why people go fishing, and the social, cultural and economic connection people have to the resource.

Why do you go fishing? - friends, family, food, all the above? There is a research and data gap we are attempting to fill, to better inform fishery decisions about the effects of those. Canada derives significant social, cultural and economic benefits from its fisheries (Recreational, FN, Commercial), and developing improved metrics to describe those will help.

So from a research perspective a huge shout out of thanks from all who participate. Survey closes March 14 - only a few days left.
