From time to time I see folks asking "what kind of plant is this?".
There is a free app that quickly identifies most plants (and animals etc) which I was introduced to by a co-worker a couple years ago now.
It is called Seek. I have used it a lot, and found it to be very accurate. It has only failed once in the 2 years I have been using it.
They constantly update their data base and it now houses more than 80,000 types of plants.

The usual caveat here: I am in no way affiliated with the company that offers this, simply a rather satisfied user of this particular app.
Kind of like a public service announcement for any with an interest.
