I was talking to a fisheries observer the other day and he was saying the reason for all the seals taking our fish was due to the low amount of bait fish in the local waters.

I'm in the Campbell River area and right now there is bait EVERYWHERE, so don't tell me the little buggers can't find bait. I honestly think they figure it's an easy meal. They just look for your flasher reflecting light like a big old spot light and swim on over.

Guys,

You play the Killer Whale sounds once you hook up. Once the fish is in the boat, you turn it off. Started using this at Chrome island and Norris Rock in the 90's. It worked. Once we were re rebaited, we would start trolling again. The killer whale sounds don't seem to bother the salmon. Caught lots after the the "deterent" was played for the first fish of the day.

I always have been cautious about turning the stereo off right after a fish is landed. I DON'T WANT TO ATTRACT other whales. If you know there are whales in the area don't run the "deterent". I don't know how another killer whale may react. If you try this out, just keep this warning in mind, and keep on the lookout for whales.
However, this being said, believe me it works.
