My slingshot broke last time out. I'm wondering if anyone would share their method of keeping the buggers away.

forget it, if they want your fish you're hooped...
only thing you cn do (legally) is move to another area
where there are no seals.

hooksome salmon on your hallie gear you can use barbs your towing hallie bait when you get the seal close tie on a cannonball he cant keep his nose up forever. you will onlyhook problem seals

I bring a few 10lb rocks and when its close to the boat dome em. Dont always smoke them but the splash and bubbles often confuses them enough to reef in the fish the last 10 feet.

How about a BB gun. You don't kill them it so should be ok? Just have to be discreet about it. Saw off the butt and you're laughing[8D][8D] Crappy tire's got the CO2 powered 357mag replicas, just cover it with a towel or something.
Not a lawyer so don't take my word for it, and no I don't have nothing like that on my boat.

cheers

Thanks for the ideas. The rocks are sure the right price. And I would never think of carrying the new Crossman pellet rifle with the 12 shot clip and large c.o.2 cartridge. On sale for only $89.00.

I got to check it out! $89 you sayin'?
cheers

Actually, I bought it at the fishing store in Ladner. I played with it in the backyard.Uses the same large c.o.2 that the paintball guns use. Has a 12 round clip and fires as fast as you can pull the trigger, sweet! Not as nice as Walleye's but could be fun. But I won't take on the boat,of course. :D

I bought one with the glow green insert in the foresight , fairly accurate rifle , limited range but works , don't let this out about us old guys turning into illegal stuff though !

Take your computer, download KILLER WHALE SOUNDS onto a CD. Play the CD on the boat stereo the second you get a fish on. For whatever reason, seals are scared Sh*tless of of this sound????

Been using it for years. Works like a charm.

on the subject of seals..... went for a walk last night, under the 17th st. bridge in courtenay, wher the bright lights hit the water on the upriver side there was literally a wall of seals. Not sure exactly how many, but at one time 10 were visible at the same time on top !
Good thing they gov't spends good money raising fish at the hatchery, yety wont do anything to control the vermin that are eating them before they even hit the salt.
The "electric fence" thing they were touting as the "cure" is a farce.
I support issuing them a "lead pill" from well aimed rifle.

I was talking to a fisheries observer the other day and he was saying the reason for all the seals taking our fish was due to the low amount of bait fish in the local waters.I guess we are part of our own problem then ?????

Hey Drewski, don't the Killer Whale sounds also scare away the salmon?
Um yea I'd say the fishing would rapidly decline the second you play orca sounds over stereo. If I was a salmon recording or not, I'd be gone!
