Scupper Valves

Anyone have experience installing these scupper valves? My scupper drains are on the sides of the boat and I’ll get water coming up them on one side if I have a lot of weight shifted to that side. These look like my only option but not sure if they actually work?

I don’t think anything 100% solves the issue. This is what I used on my old Grady and it worked better than without a valve reducing back flow.

You can buy at Defender Marine.

Had the ping pong ball floats on my trophy took them off and replace all my over boards with stainless including the ones you posted. Not 100% and no better the balls but better than straight thru

I had 3 differnt types on my boat they all had issues ill be honest hated them all. I hated when 2 guys went to one side of boat and water came in . the best was the older ones where the ping pong ball wasnt rock hard they seemed to work better.
i eventually plugged the holes and have built in chambers and automatic float bilges to get rid of the water

Appreciate the input, they aren’t cheap so thought I would get some input before purchasing.
1/Of note, the boston whaler ones are super high quality, I wouldn't cheap out. Maybe even research what they use.
2/ My neighbour replaced the factory ones in his grady on the result of a survey they made him put ball valves on them allthough they are above water line. I found that request a bit overkill.
3/probably 50% of sinking I have seen have been a result of faulty unmaintained check ball valves, usually plastic junk. Mine get bits of seaweed, salmon bones from traps etc. All clears through with a good blast from the hose, probably weekly in summer I flip the rubber dam on the outside and clear them if there's a daily **** show. That being said they are more serviceable with a flapper, than a bit of junk getting stuck in the ball.
4/closest I have found with a quick search, gemlux is top quality.

Not sure of the brand, but my previous Pursuit had that style of scupper. The rubber flappers get stiff and stay open, but there are replacement kits available. Mine were all just above the water line so never noticed any water ingress.
