Scotty release clip on braided line

What do you guys put on the release clips to prevent their movement . I know we put stops above and below, but don't some people put tubing over the clips to help them hold position a bit better on the braided line?
Any pics would be tremendous. I didn't have much luck with any tubing I tried last season, probably used the wrong stuff.

Thanks,Steve

i use the scotty stoppers for barided line, I just put two on top of each other and have had no problems. I know some guys use a little drop of crazy glue on their stoppers. I also bend my hali (long line) snaps a little bit to pinch the line better.

Cheers

I use small (surgical?) tubing like what slingshots use. Slide it over the middle (single prong) part of the snap. Prevents sliding

I have started using the Scotty Stacker line clips. They have a snap swivel to hold the clip onto the line but also another line clip to hold onto the braided. Seems to work really well so far.

Yup, two of the red Scotty braid stoppers works great.

There seems to be 2 different thoughts on this thread...
some guys are talking about stopper's on the braided downrigger line
other's are discussing the snap for the release that clips on to
the downrigger line.

I assume he is referring to what guys use to prevent their clips from moving on the braided line...guys are saying they basically use the red Scotty stoppers to keep the clip from moving up and down. I like to use the Scotty Stackers clips that have both a snap swivel and a clip (same as fishing line) as this prevents the clip from moving on the downrigger line...I've had mixed results with the red stoppers as I've switched to some braid that is a wee bit too thin and I am not too keen on gluing stuff onto the line.

Yes Kelly, pictures next time you're out. That sounds real simple but effective. Don't make a special trip, but you get to fish so often it will be soon..[8D]

I dont have that problem. I use 12' of chord tied in a loop (it becomes 6') between the cannonball and downrigger line. the knot trips the switch to shut it off, and the release clip doesnt slide. It eliminates alot of costly riggin too.

Im not giving up any more secrets![:p]

so when you are fighting a fish you have to reach up and try to unhook that swivel?

No the swivel just acts as a stopper on the downrigger line, because it's so small you can just wind it on the spool.(unless I'm totally out to lunch here) ;)

Instead of using tubing, try stripping a piece of 10-12ga wire. Slip that on your clip. As well just crazy glue your stops, that will locate your clip.

just got 250 power pro tonight I can't believe how small the spool is my wife start to laugh and thought I was on glue when I told her that there was 500 yards on a 4 inch spool. I hope it's as good as you guys say it is.
