Scotty electric problem

anybody know what the problem is when the brake handle whacks back and forth ?
I can take it apart and put back together, just need to know what is the cause of it.

I'll take it apart and see, Scotty said that most of the time the brake pads are glazed
and need turning or roughing up

When mine behaved that way I did two things (1) buffed the glaze off of the pads and (2) didn't tighten the spool down quite as tight. I think it was (2) that made the difference as I had replaced the braid and i think the new stuff expanded when it got wet (even a little) and made everything a little tighter. Regardless, I tinkered and it resolved itself. Good luck.

had the same problem last season and it turned out to be a bad connection in the plug , not mechanical at all.

If it is happening when retrieving then generally a bad wiring connection. I would check out your plug and socket then your battery connection.

Scott
I have the same issues with my hp's coming up
Usually just deglazing the brake pads with sandpaper and cleaning the spool, then resetting the brake tension to about 40-45lbs on my fish scale clears it up till the next time it happens

Sent from my rotary phone using tapacrap!

Clean the brake plates as well, they get glazed over worse than the pads and become sticky, after you clean them check for excessive wear or pitting, even though their stainless they may need replacing..

Sounds like maybe your brake is either dirty or set too tight, this may not solve your problem but i find after cleaning and setting the brakes my riggers run much smoother both on the drop and retrieve..
