I dunno if it were me I would feel safer with a drilled bolt to keep it from twisting - there is a lot of pressure exerted on rod holders especially when fishing deep and in strong tides. I tried clamping a stainless steel rod holder on my boom - didn't work, it kept twisting. I am now going to go with drilling a through hole for a bolt attachment. My 2 bits.those clamps grab the boom pretty hard , this worked well with u bolts
Or PNT
If there are plastic I would not trust them over time as all plastic oxidizes, weakens and/or gets brittle over time.Folbe brand and yes they are plastic.

Got any more pics of these? The website has only this one pic which doesn't show how're they're mounted or how the move/articulate (as described on the website). $250++ for an aluminum tube is pretty outrageous so you'd think they would be trying to showcase whatever innovation they've created. But maybe not?
Honestly there is absolutely no chance that the dual tube bases could ever break. They attach with a large ring and not a scotty post.Dual tube base works if the rod holders are all metal. Gunnel mounted does not work well on some boat designs.
IMO the bottom line is the material the rod holders are made of. Metal = long term strength & reliability. Plastic = degrading over time to UV damage and possible breakage (this is the problem some guys are having with the all plastic Scotty rod holders).
What I would like to see if an all metal (SS or AL) rod holder with no plastic parts that doesn't cost hundreds of $$$.
Nope not people leaning on them. It’s tuna hitting them in my experience! The Njord boom mounted rod holder rotates a few degrees up when you go to take the rod out. That makes it so the motion of taking the rod out is more up instead of moving the rod away from you.
They are working on a dual mount set up to replace Scotty’s version. Metal base and metal rod holders. Not sure when that will be released. They have pictures on their Instagram.
I’ve got flush mount / Burnewiiin holders but still prefer to have my rods mounted on the downrigger to keep everything close. I’ve been replacing the rod holders every three years to hopefully avoid losing a setup over the side. I think accumulated fatigue is the main reason they break, especially with new people on the boat who inadvertently lean on them when they are trying to take the rod out.
Downriggers come off the boat and the Burnewiin’s go on when it’s tuna time!Nope not people leaning on them. It’s tuna hitting them in my experience!
I was the same as you ..however I have them mount pretty tight to the rigger and they tilt up so no reaching.. surprising enoughAnytime you have to reach wayout there and grab a rod and pull it up and away from you to grab the rod has got to be the dumbest idea in salmon fishing. I've seen guys loose so much gear ( my gear ) from doing that. Boom mounted rod holders are banned on my boats.
Maybe you should tie everyone to the boat and then tie the rods to their arms and then don't leave the dock at all. Y'all need to cut down on the boozin' if people can't simply take a rod out of a tube, 1 foot away from them. Is there an air horn that goes off when a fish bites or something?Anytime you have to reach wayout there and grab a rod and pull it up and away from you to grab the rod has got to be the dumbest idea in salmon fishing.
