scotty downrigger plugs - corrosion

Both of my plugs were corroded, primarily inside the plug itself. I'm guessing the O ring failed...socket seems ok. I'd clean up the prong but it would still fail, not great to find all that corrosion but glad I did and easy fix for a mere 30 bucks a side haha.

Few posters suggested filling the receptacle with vasaline. I've been doing exactly that for many years. My boat is outside in the weather fishing for over 100 days/season. No issues. Yes dielectric grease works also, but its pricy compared to a cheap tub of vasaline. I also do the same for all the exposed electrical connections and battery posts to help protect them from exposure to salt air. Cheap effective solution.

I've been spraying WD40 in there but I think I'll try your suggestion. The o rings seal well but don't seem to last long. I have never found a suitable replacement. Anybody know where to get them?
