Attention all fishermen!

Sayward Tour de Rock Committee is hosting its 1st Annual fishing derby on August 21, 2010 in Sayward, B.C. (Kelsey Bay). Tour de Rock is a group of police officers on Vancouver Island that cycle the island raising money for kids with cancer. This is our way for our little town to donate to this worthwhile cause.

Please look at our website at www.saywardfishingderby.webs.com

Thank you and hope to see you in Sayward this summer!! :)

Now I can sure commit to this worthy cause. Its been a few years since I fished that area ( other than on a seine boat [:0]), but I am sure I could still find one of those Salmon River hawgs to hang up on the bragging board.

Keep us posted as the derby develops Rod

We are now in the process of securing prizes. If anyone out there knows anyone that might want to donate a prize for this, please have them email myself at saywardfishingderby@hotmail.com

Thanks!

Rod-- how is access at the log pond ramp? Any chance of camping on the spit with a self contained unit?

sounds like fun, havent been into sayward for years, is there accomidations there?

Lots of camping around. If you want to camp right next to the pond, this will be close to the beer gardens. It is $10 per night to camp there with no hookups. I wouldn't recommend camping on the spit. Fisherboy campground is also a nice campground near the highway, about 10 mins from the boat launch.

For accomodations, check out our Links on our website!

Hello fishermen,

Our derby was a huge success. 124 Fishermen entered, 301 salmon caught, mostly sockeye. People walked away with some awesome prizes. If you missed out this year, be sure to come out next year around the 3rd weekend of August!
