Anyone using a sat phone on West Coast? If so, what models work well and how about plans? How do they work.The GPS store has some pretty good deals on them right now.

i have a globalstar. it works way better now that they have been launching more and more sattelites.ive had it for years and it 42$ a month unlimited.it was only 20 a month for the first few years

No idea. It's a sat phone. Not a cell phone. Don't think you can text with it.

why not get a delorme SE they are less expensive. No voice but texting email. AND an "SOS" distress button

I've looked at the Delorme device. Its great, but, I need voice. Good alternative though if you don't need to talk

I have the older 1600 you can sms on sat.

I have the delorme and yes you can SMS but no voice plans start about 40$ a month depending if you want tracks or texts, but I had thought they came out with one you could talk via cell either delorme or someone else
