Welcome to my first post of my Colombia Tour,please feel free to travel along as I make my way around Colombia.

Great thread Sammy! Looks very interesting. I couldn't tell if that was a game or just a team beer drinking contest lol. Those rivers are truly beautiful. Can't wait for the next installment.

Beautiful Country. I had the oppurtunity to go to Colombia last Febuary with my company, we were only there for 10 days but it was some of the best 10 days of my life. We started in Bogota, then made our way to Medellin. from there we drove down to Jardin and spent the rest of our time there before driveing back to Medellin and flying to Cartagena for our last night. Nice country lots to see and wonderful people.
What are you down there for with your company?

Rempy,I work with a Bogota Travel Company; the link to the company is in my signature below.I am presently in Bogota to visit family,the rest of the time I will be traveling and developing new tours in Colombia.I am also interested in visiting Jardin,I recommend the town a lot but I have never been there.Yes you are spot on with your remarks about Colombia.Colombia is an amazing country,there is so much to see;the people are warm and extremely hospitable.I fell in love with Colombia back in the mid 70;later on I lived in Bogota for a few years and married a girl from Bogota.
I look forward to sharing my passion with Colombia...

...well I was out with the boss last night sampling Colombian craft beer at an English Pub... must remind myself to go easy on the beer...beer and altitude are a poor mix :eek:

Its neat looking through those pictures. Such a nice place to visit. Wish I could have made it up the hill to see the church and the veiw. Where do you live when you are back here in BC. If you are in Victoria we should get to gether some time.

I lived in Las Aguas (Bogota) for a spell,one of the oldest barrios in the downtown area and is located close to the hill named Monserrate.
The church is called the Sanctuary de Monseratte;in my younger days I hiked up the path which leads to the top of the mountain, these days I prefer to use the cable car.

We are back in Bogota after a two week trip: Bogota - Medellin - Jardin - Medellin - Guatape - Medellin - Cartagena - Tolu - Coveñas (Golfo de Morrosquillo) - Islas San Bernardo - Cartagena - Medellin - Bogota.We took advantage of Colombia´s budget airline,VivaColombia is an off shoot of UK RyanAir; their on line booking site offers some tantalizing prices, unfortunately I found they don´t accept international credit cards. As fortune has it I married into an incredible Colombian family, who quickly offered up my favorite nephew’s credit card. Being my persistent self with the help of my savvy bro n law we dove back in to Viva´s frustrating web site to book our tickets BOG- MDE – CTG – MDE – BOG; 4 segments x 2 pax = 8 flights total $250 taxes in; each flight averaged 1 hour,the airline has a fleet of 5 new Airbus320.

The Colombian Way went to work on my accommodations supplying us with one of the best 5* hotels in all of Medellin http://www.diezhotel.com/index.php for those of you that are Español challenged you can click on the English language option. This Colombian thematic style hotel pays particular attention to every detail; each suite is decorated to highlight various regions of Colombia.

I spent time in Santiago de Tolu nice little place although local shrimp draggers have scoured the Golfo de Morosquillo bare.

Hired a panga to go fishing even though they advertised fishing trips they had no rod holders so I paid to have some PVC pipe installed they work OK.

Headed out toward Las Islas de San Bernardo saw a Sail jumping but no action until we actually headed into the Closed Zone then snagged one Barracuda-a totally underwhelming day's fishing.

Love the country but nets & dynamite combined with pig headed ignorance have buggered fish stocks bad.

There are tons of sports fishing opportunities in Colombia; Colombia is blessed with two coastlines Caribbean/Pacific, the Pacifico though heavily fished in some parts still boast an abundance of fish stocks. Sapzurro (Golfo de Morrosquillo) sits near the Isthmus de Panama eagerly awaits you and your fishing rod.

Los Llanos Meta > Amazonia region of Colombia is a gold mine for fresh water fishing enthusiasts…

Triste Amigo todo que brilla en esta mundo no es oro!...but aren´t Canada´s fish stocks headed in the same >>>
