I had to walk away from tonights show-- it was ridiculous. Damn near every set the boats made ended up in disaster of some sorts. Seine nets hooked on old anchors, hydraulic failure that threatened to sink a seine net, broken metal gear, crew screwups.
One after the other--- totally demeaning to the Newfie fishers in general.

I have spent a lot of time on BC seiners over the years... while there is always a risk of something going wrong ( while I have been on board commercial boats, drum backlash, broken purse line, hydraulic lines blowing, net in the wheel resulting in the tide grounding the vessel and the seine getting wrapped in the wheel, skiff over turned etc..they were a rare occurrences that did not diminish the professionalism of the skippers and the crews.
The Saltwater Cowboys show is a joke and does not deserve to be on the air.
 
Hey Owen-- they tell me that a person can find **** on the internet.. can you tell me how you do it please. I am computer challenged!!! :-)
 
Never mind.. I just found something more interesting. E=MC2!!! Now it all comes completely clear. Saltwater Cowboys and **** dont matter anymore.

I have seen the future!! (and my head hurts and I am going to bed early)

I watch that show and it's glaringly obvious that since there's no more cod fishery , they are left to grovel for other species to scratch up a living.


100,000lbs of herring to get, wait for it, 10,000 dollars?........gonna have to catch a lot of herring to make any decent money.

Every other species they catch seems to be low-pay as well.

The Midnight Shadow looks like a half -decent boat basically.........but some of the other boats could use an overhaul,update and refit........and my guess is they just can't afford it.

Seems like there's a number of crewmembers who like being in the bar all night more than fishing......

I would not be looking to fishing around there as a solid future career choice.....

If they were fishing Cod I don't imagine they would have to take half the "desperation" moves they make for fishing species that are inshore and shallow as they do now.

I don't mind watching the show though...........

Have you ever seen the show "Million Dollar Catch"?

About Ozzie and New Zealand fisherman.......watched one the other night....they were going after Rock Lobster.....in 90 knot winds.........tight in to a large rock-infested island.

They put a new meaning on the term "balls".
 
"Two Guys And Their Fishing Rod" ( one of the guys has lost his fishing rod twice now in separate episodes.....:p) was on Shaw Community t.v. long before it got broadcast elsewhere.

Not sure if those guys load up on the Ganja before they start out each time........

Good advertising for Apex.......that is always their lure of choice........

I think they should replace it by bringing back " fishing with Shelly and Courtney".

The main thing i get out of that show is how tough those Newfies have it (you couldn't pay me enough to get aboard that Seafever boat) and how lucky we are to live in the west.
 
Since I went Optik and got PVR's, I can now scroll way ahead and record shows....

There's are some shows on WFN that aren't too bad at all.....I just scroll ahead through the guide and record them and watch later.
 
throw deckhands shell/court in with the newfies...haute couture meets grimy herring slime...:)
 
btw WFN was on shaw's free preview...not worth the extra $6 imo...:D
 
Actually "Duck Dynasty" is the stupidest show on the air.......

I don't pay extra for WFN....it comes in a package of other shows I got as "basic".

There are west coast salmon shows on there............no problem for me.

I doubt that I'd buy it as a "stand-alone " channel on Shaw though.
