Where is this information comming from?

Right now we are targeting feeders which are local salmon not spawning salmon or salmon stacking up in front of rivers.

I would personally wait till June to fish them river mouths. They are normally fished untill Nov./Dec. in some areas. But I would love to hear more about these January Salmon that are stacking up.

Uh....why don't you read up to bob456's post I was replying to in what I thought was a VERY sarcastic tone and trying to help Cuba understand . [:p] ;)

Did ya read all of my post? Did you read the thread? I am a bit confused as to why you question my sarcastic reply as opposed to Bob who seems as though he is serious??? [:o)]

What are these "feeders" you refer to?? [:p] ;)

I joined recently but I gotta' tell yu' I'm having more chuckles than I've ever had watching TV. Trying to understand some of the communication is "tuffer'n stuffin' a dew worm up a wildcat's butt!" FUBAR means #$%^*^ up beyond all reason. Keep em' coming and thanks.

On another topic, I surreptitiously overheard my wife talking to her friend the other day. The friend commented; "I have to tell you, my husband's an angel", to which my wife replied; "Jeez you're lucky ... mine's still alive."

I'm a relatively new member but I have to tell you I'm having more fun than a two headed cat in a creamery. Trying to understand some of the dialogue is "hardern stuffin' a dew worm up a wildcat's rear end!"

Thank you for your kind comments. Actually, you're not far off base. I was President & Publisher (at different times) of The Hockey News, Pacicifc Yachting, Canadian Yachting & the publishing arm of the Canadian National Sportsmens Shows - Outdoor Canada. I also did the odd television show with Bob Izumi (a really nice guy). The biggest challenge I think I ever faced was trying to improvise on the inane comments employed in the plethora of fishing shows now available on TV. Most of the participants make an NFL or NBA player sound like Richard Burton.

Regarding the wife. Her last name was Wright. I found out after I married her that her first name was Always.

Yee haw billy bobs dead on. Get yo crankbaits head down to yo piers and get you a large mouth nookie! If you want to fish salmon from a boat its all about speed.Git an 18fter with low freeboard and slap as much horses on er then crank it! 60mph or bust.

Yessiree. I agree on yur billy bob guy. I always subscribed to the theory that there's three kinds of people in this world ... the ones who make things happen ... the ones who watch things happen ... and the ones who wonder what the hell happened? I think yur biilly bob guy is in the third group (after all, isn't thatt the majority group)?

Sorry to say this is over my head. I am lost, and read this over and over.

Sorry If I misunderstood the joke, I am still lost.

Sorry, Just thought I could help JayDee.

fishassassin123, I started out asking for some serious help. I think I created a monster and it ingested me in the process. Any serious help you could provide would be very much appreciated.

Assassin....don't sweat it. We are all more than happy to help JayDee. The post by bob456 really sent this thread sideways [:p]. I was just trying to figure out why you questioned my saracastic poke at his post....which was posted before I even chimed in. I would think if you were reading the thread from first to last...that a post with advice like I will paste below seems to be something I would question first. Cuba Libre couldn't make sense of bob's ramblings....and I just poked a funny shot at it as noted in my original "interpretters" post. ;)

I laugh as I say this as I am not trying to be a dickhead at all....but how do you question my statement yet you breeze right by this tidbit of info from bob456??

quote:Start fishing off the piers around the rivers where they will be coming. Right now they are staging and waiting for the fall rains to raise the water levels. They come very close to shore between about 1am and 2 hours after sunrise (extended on cloudy days). As the season moves on, they will spend more time close to shore, and eventually move up the rivers. Now is the best time to catch them for food because they haven't gone into spawning mode yet, so most of them are still silver in colour "Chromers". Once they turn black brown and green, they taste nasty, but good to give to your trapper friend if you have one. Also try big suspending crakbaits like Rapala X-Raps. They like a slow wobble. They seem to be very attracted to spinners but in my experience they seem tro hesitate and not bite at the last minute. I have caught a couple on #4 Blue Fox vibrax, with pink body and silver blade. You can try roe sacs (salmon eggs) with some floatation in there, and let them sit a 2 or 3 feet off the bottom, but that bait will work better as the season progresses.

I am still scratching my head as to where bob spends his/her time fishin'?? He/she only has 3 posts and one of his/her others is almost like an advertisement for an unnamed tackle shop. 1 post...fictional salmon info....1 turrets syndrome like post rambling about some tackle in a thread that has nothing to do with it.....and the other is a small odd anecdotal tale of sturgeon fishing on the Snake River which makes me think that bob is a "she".

I hope he/she doesn't own a tackle shop....I would feel safer getting fishing advice from a pimple faced punk at Canadian Tire who spends his free time playing Ninetendo. :D [:p] ;)

JayDee....back to the topic at hand!! Let's talk "real" salmon fishing!! I am sure someone, me included will be happy to get out with ya and throw some info at ya!! Sorry this thread went a bit sideways!! [:o)] Have enjoyed a number of the publications you have been involved with!
