i am heading to salmon beach to look at the rec properties there. if i could ask for all your input on the area and a fishing locations (not exact) but rough distances and wind effects (protection). Eg "pill point". wind protected areas or exposed areas? how do you fuel up? i have been going to poet nook and bamfield for years and have never ventured toward UKI/ torquart areas. WANNA LEARN. thanks. not fishing this trip but hopefully many trips soon.

No wharf, launch everytime you fish.Mayne Bay is down and around the corner,FOLLOW the channel markers,Lyall point is just up from there. Not bad fishing, when they are there,Pill Point I would guess is about a half hour or more run. There are lots of short cuts through the islands that we use to go to Harbour Entrance and Meares Bluff but its something that is kinda hard to explain over the internet. You're going to have to get your charts out and do some figuring. When we stay at Toquart we just run up to Ucluelet and gas up.If you've fished the other side for years you have a good idea of conditions ,they are'nt that much different.I will say when it fogs in all those little islands can be confusing.Dan

The lots they are selling now are stage 3 or maybe stage 4.It's basically a gravel pit.The good news is the 14km road is in great shape. The best I have ever seen it in.There is a ramp but the last time I saw it,it was not in good shape.Chrow island and south bank are close.Swale is about a half hour run at 25 knots.I think a lot of salmon beach owners use the ramp at Toquart and perhaps there docks as well.

thanks to those who e-mailed and to those who posted,, i will be heading back soon.
