I just got word that one of if not the giant in the sport fishing community passed on last night. My sympathies to the family and friends of Bob Wright!

Never met him in person but you see his footprint in many places that have something to do with fish, fishing and oceans. An impressive legacy. RIP

Went out right the right way. Quick and easy. No long hospital stay. May he rest in peace.

Thanks for all the good times Bob.

I started working for Oak Bay in '92 on the Marabell while it was in Hakai Pass then the next year it was on the Charlotte Princess at Langara Island, the year follwowing that it was the Salmon Seeker in Kano Inlet and thats where I met Bob.

As a 20 year old fisherman, with no clue about anything I walked out of the Salmon Seeker's galley into the dining room where there sat 3 men which I didn't recognize as guests, they flew in for the day for a short visit. Bob quickly stood up and introduced himself and asked how I was liking the experience and if I was going to make it as a guide eventually. I wish now I had made the time to tell him that I had in fact made it as a guide, and that the experience I gained through his company led to a position as a Coast Guard employee.

Through Bobs wisdom and tenacity were brought many a fishermans dreams come true, and friendships with memories that will last a lifetime and I thank him for that.

Bob has had a great impact on many people & has shape sport fishing and the sport Fishing industry more then many know..... He will be missed... :(
