The one I have powers up with a ac/dc wall wart type power supply and its 30 volts DC output. Not 12v

It will actually run on 12 volts to 48 volts. 60 watts max but typical 25 to 40 watts.
Like I said mine runs on 12 volts just fine

Just did a quick Google search on reviews on running a mini on 12v and this was one of the first ones. Makes sense. Apparently if the starlink sees voltage below 11.5 volts it will reboot itself. Since the wire is so tiny guys are having issues with running 12v when the starlink is drawing up to 5 amps.

Curious as to why it can only be used up to 12 miles offshore? Isn't that the whole point of satellite? Can be used anywhere, as long as you have view to the sky?
Anyone know? Perhaps it's a juradistical issue? Within Canadian border kinda thing?

Sorry, should have specified with the roam plan it’s up to 12 miles offshore. All you need to do is enable ocean mode for offshore, will cost more. Take a look at the starlink website, they have everything explained there.

The antenna is weather resistant and the power connector seals water tight.
Mine has been outside for months and no issue.
It’s meant to be outdoors, within reason.

The Roam is designed to be mobile, but I've talked to several boaters who use the residential system - which was cheaper although I haven't checked recently -- they can use it at anchor, but also at trolling/displacement speeds.

Ok. I used the iPhone sat texting doing a solo Nootka trip this year. Worked good but time consuming

I think the iPhone satellite texting thing is only free for two years after new phone purchase. It is slow but so is my inreach. Best to have multiple options though for if you ever need it.
