Rockfish trip to north island results

Actually halibut, lingcod and rockfish were all closed if you went out anytime near when you posted that. Ling and rockfish close Oct 1 in the Strait of Georgia...geez man.

Maybe look up your info, area 11 port hardy, rockfish all year and lingcod till nov 15. That's why people go there...geez man

We made sure it was open where we were. Thats why we went all the way up to the top of the islands instead of around home.

Oh yeah, Geez man...

The yellow eye were nothing special biggest was 12 lbs. the lings were another story with one being 42 lbs and one at 40 lbs.they both had full bellys of fish.definately put some fish in the freezer for the winter

Mann its so hard to weave through the politics of this website. Makes new members like me wonder how many Forum Mongers are actually out there fishing, rather than just talking about it.

That being said, those are some monster lings you pulled in. I've heard when Lings get that big, its common to find worms in the meat, is this truthful info or just propwash (not hogwash, get it haha)??

Sounds like some fun was had ;)

There is a lot of people talking just to talk but whatever. There is good stuff on here also for sure. Just got to sort through the crap. They were definately monster lings.by the time you lose the head and guts it sure takes the weight down though.Never really noticed the worm issue so cant comment on that.

Have to say larger Lingcod definitelyyyyyy have much softer meat, that to me is almost mushy. I encourage most guests to release them, some do, some still want them. Best eating Lings easily 10-20lbs. Not sure about worms though... Will say halibut I find no difference however, large or small.
