Regs Question - Barbed Hooks Ok for Lings & Halibut?

So, the regs don't mention anything about barbed hooks for Lingcod & Halibut. Does this mean we can use barbed hooks when targeting these species? I assume that if you're jigging a swim bait off the bottom, then your chances of catching a salmon by mistake are small? Given that I can't seem to catch a salmon on purpose lately, I think I know the answer to that one.

Thanks,
Dennis

Technically if you inadvertently catch a salmon while legally fishing barbed hooks for bottom fish you are supposed to release it.
I've had to do that a couple of times at WH. Dropping copper pipe jig for lings, nailed by a chinook 40-50 ft down. Had already limited out on springs earlier in the day anyway, salmon released.

Was a constant problem back in the Lodge days in the Charlottes, lots of the guests would complain they couldn't get thier Halibut gear to the bottom without getting a chinook even with salmonbellies as bait. I used to tell them thats a quality problem to have.
