Every couple years I tow the boat to Vancouver Island. Thinking late July, early August this year. Been to Tofino, Telegraph Cove, Campbell river and Port Alberni. Thinking a few days near Parksville, and then Port McNeill. Would like Halibut and Prawns as well as Salmon. RV camping. Any drouthers? any don't go? I have a 21' boat.

Not sure where parkfield is, but if you are looking for Hali, salmon and prawns and want the east side of the island id skip everything till you at least get to Port McNeil.

Sorry, senior moment while typing. Parksville. Figure East side, as calmer. Tofino, when we were there was never very nice offshore. rough water.

East Coast, Port Hardy or Port Mcneill, West coast, I'd say try Nootka instead. Lots of inside and calmer waters and good opportunities there as well.

Nootka is great for inside salmon/prawns or outside for halibut. Check Tom Nelson at Salmon University/nootka sd. Moutcha Bay good for RVs.

Why not Sooke? Awesome year last year, and i believe they are expecting more the same this year.

Ya I would recommend Sooke too. You could plan on going to Sooke and if the weather is right you could drive another hour and a bit and be in Port Renfrew. Having said that it is really hard to beat Nootka also.

Anywhere on the US Chinook migration route the last week of July - first week of August! :)

The first week of August through the 15th should be the best; however this yearI personally will be found at Port Renfrew the last week of July!

My vote would be Nootka end of July
