Does anyone know for sure the law about Rockfish Conservation Areas. I read the notice and am wondering a little. The wording in the post seems a little mild. It does not say it is illegal to.. etc like some regs do. It says something like:

Permitted fihsing within Rockfish Conservation Areas...
Recreational

* invertebrates by hand picking or dive
* crab by trap
* prawn by trap
* smelt by gillnet
Fishing activity not listed above is restricted.

Is this just a recommendation by dfo. What do they mean by restricted. That word restricted is not defined in what I read. It seems a little wishy washy to me, as if it is more of a suggestion than a regulation. Are they waiting for some kind of ratification.

Which areas are closed permanently and seasonally?

Certain spots along the coast are closed for specific
management/conservation or health (i.e. shellfish contamination/PSP)
reasons. You cannot fish/angle/harvest in any of these Areas:

The way i've understood it is you better not even have a bare hook hanging in the water in a RCA. No fishing for finfish of any kind. Period.
look up dfo definition of 'angling'.

RC Area, the intent of the dfo post is obvious. I guess it is the word restricted that leaves me wondering if it is really law. If it said prohibited rather than restricted, I would probably not question it, and just assume it was the law.
