Has anyone rigged one-off these on a Merc Pro kicker (9.9)? Wondering about the servo bracket placement.
I have a tiller control only, will be nice to have a controller on the dash. If servo dies, I'll run from the tiller like I do now. Will eventually upgrade to the waterproof one anyway. Why not just have controls for your kicker? The servo controls are good for guys that don’t have room for another set of controls but I’d think you have room for controls. If you go that route, you don’t have to worry about your $2 servo dying from being in a salt water environment lol
A wireless controller could be made with a couple Arduino boards.Awesome stuff guys, I need another project like I need a hole in my head but this is great and on the list. I'll research it and prep while I'm away at work. Anyone figured out a Bluetooth connection?
It's a throttle controller, solves the problem of achieving fine adjustments in troll speed. I have a kicker that is non tiller, and this is way better than the old method of "tap, tap, tap, oops too much" on the throttle lever.
Great post wildthing!! I installed a troll master a number of years ago and it only lasted 2 years. The control box failed I think due to moisture in the air due to our damp winters. Next time I would install the so the controller could be removed in the winter months with a couple wire connections.yep you got that right ... just so easy to dial in the kicker and also saves a bunch of time, even if you have a tiller as well no running back and forth unless your sat right to it....
I’d probably go ESP32. Super cheap. I actually think I have all the parts on hand to build one, except the servos I have are probably too small. I definitely need one for trolling off my main (50hp Yamaha). I’m gonna see if I can put something together and whip up a smartphone app I can control it from.A wireless controller could be made with a couple Arduino boards.
I think from memory the Trollmaster wire has just 4 conductors. It would be easy to wire in a set of decent moisture resistant connectors so the head could be removed for storage over the off season.Great post wildthing!! Thanks for info

Yep it does. Wildthings system is a way more affordable option. I think the troll master pro is pushing 400 bucks now.I think from memory the Trollmaster wire has just 4 conductors. I put a trollmaster with a Merc kit on my 9.9 Pro , worked awesome. Going to put one on my Honda for next seasonHas anyone rigged one-off these on a Merc Pro kicker (9.9)? Wondering about the servo bracket placement.
Slip linkage looks great. I've bought the parts, and will be doing something similar this spring to Merc Pro Kicker 15. I think I'll borrow this idea of the linkage. Cheers.I rigged the servo linkage last night on my 8hp Yamaha, full tiller control to over ride in increase direction. I replaced the original throttle linkage with 1/8" stainless rod and a 1/8" collar with set screw. Slip linkage from servo pulls the throttle lever independent of tiller control. Slip linkage was just bent from 1/16" stainless rod, could be wire though.
First picture, low idle.
Second picture, full throttle from tiller
Third picture, throttled up with slip linkage
if no one takes them pm me and i'll cover postage or unless your going the boat openning day ? cheers johnFree to whoever wants these. I'm sure you could figure out how to use them on more than what engine model they were intended for. Think these are for Honda View attachment 113942
