Raymarine dragonfly 7

Getting the hourston back in action this spring/summer looking to put new electronics in it. Is anyone running this unit in their boat? Ive done some researching on them and reviews seem to be pretty good, Also like that it has chirp.. Having hard time choosing between the raymarine or the lowrance elite 7.
Some input would be great,

I've run the 5" Models of both (Dragonfly 5.7 and Elite 5), and prefer the Dragonfly, it has quite amazing sonar. I also prefer Downvision over CHIRP.

My Money would be on the Dragonfly(no pun intended). The only drawback being that you can only navigate in a straight line(in terms of making courses).

I' m a Dragonfly fan as well. Anyone try the navionics sonar charting? I have had no luck finding out what, if any upgrade I need to download sonar charts?

to do sonar chart upgrade you have to download and install there chart installer from the Navi web site
have your chart chip install to a card reader and then you can if you wish to upgrade ///

here is the glitch that i found it will wipe and clear your card from a gold card to a fish'n'chip
which means that you select from the map where you want the data maps from ...
so you will prob just do all of Van island up to the Charlotte's
the sonar charts have lots more contour lines in and on a small screen may look cluttered
also ----- Note to All unless your gold card is fairly new you won't be able to do a free upgrade

it will cost $99 or more be aware

back on subject i use lowrance and played with a friends dragonfly once it will take a bit of time to get used to it but once set up to ones liking i think both are good units all depends on ones budget ...

I just put a 7" Dragonfly in my boat. I install them at work all the time, custumers have nothing but good feed back on them. I vote dragonfly.

Well i ended up going with the Raymarine A78 with chirp.. spent the past couple days looking for some deals and found a sweet deal from west marine.
already comes loaded with navionics gold for our waters. Will see how i like it!
