Ram trucks

I'm quite interested in a new Ram truck. I don't need a hemil, the 4.7 seems like it would work fine. The biggest problem I have is the warranty offered in Canada, 100,000 kilometers, and our U.S. neighbors get 100,000 miles. What's up with that. And in the U.S. you can buy a lifetime warranty. Any comments from well informed Ram owners?

I have owned and owned two Ram trucks. I bought a 1500 in 2003 new with the 5.7 Hemi. It was a great truck for the three years I owned it and would have kept it but I bought a camper. So........in 2006 I bought a new 3/4 ton with the Hemi again and it has been great. Although it only has 65 000KM's on it and sits more now than it should. I personally wouldn't bother with the 4.7 especially if you are doing it to save fuel? Power wise there is a huge difference and if you are into mods or tuning the Hemi has far more aftermarket products for it. I just recently developed a small leak in the power steering cooler and have one on order and will replace it myself. ($69.00 on Amazon) Other than that both trucks had zero issues. Just my two cents!

My buddy bought a 2010 1500 with the Hemi. Was burning over a liter and a half of oil every couple hundred km. Dealing with Dodge on warranty was like pulling teeth. Every time I talked to him, he told me a different story about how they kept saying that was within manufacturers specifications. Blah, blah, blah.... Everytime he went there it was difficult to get anything done. They pushed back on everything. Finally a Dodge rep came and looked at it. Decided to rip the engine apart. Rings weren't seated on 2 pistons. they finally decided to rebuild it. Honed the cylinders and replaced the head. He says it runs good now. I've never owned a Dodge, but after his horror story, I never will. Toyotas for me. Own an FJ right now, and will be buying a Tundra next. Easiest company to deal with when there is warranty. They even fixed something for me outside of the warranty period. See if Dodge will do that. That said, all manufacturers have lemons. He obviously got one. I'm sure there are many out there that are great trucks as well.

Being the proud owner of a Toyota Tundra as my towing vehicle, I steer clear of cocktails mixed up with Rams and Bayliners...

Unfortunately, a Toyota Tundra doesn't solve that problem. You can watch the gas gauge visibly going south when towing a boat. It comes with the 5.7 L territory, especially with a 4x4, but sometimes you just gotta have those extra ponies

had a suburban 22yrs not a thing wrong with it. sold it on, present truck 2001 GMC 2500HD 6ltr gas great truck if a little heavy on gas pulling a 31 5th wheel. but all the power you need with a K/N air filter..

I think dodge has one of the best cab layouts, and are extremely comfortable on long hauls. The newer hemi's are supposed to be ok on fuel too, but have not tested one.

Stay away from 4.7's if you plan on keeping the truck past warranty. Ask any junkyard what their hot ticket items are.
