Rain Gear?

light duty rain gear I use a Gage shell.

heavy duty i just put my new mustang integrity hx suit through some pretty hard rain....12 hours on the water, bone dry and toasty warm...smiling ear to ear about that recent purchase!

HH, the dark green with orange foamy stuff inside. Best I have ever owned, No sweating on the inside which was my biggest problem with wetskins or any of the rubber/vinyl stuff. Just wish they would have put in a couple of pockets. No where to put my hands when the fish aren't biting:)

I work in the woods and for durability I choose the Yellow Zephron stuff made by Black Diamond. I own the green cheap HH and use it for fishing but when it comes to rip resistance nothing holds a candle to Zephron. The HH dual layer stuff is hot if you're doing any walking around, it doesn't pack up small and it's expensive. The thinner HH stuff is great if you aren't worried about snagging it and it stretches but it rips easy. The Cheap HH is just that but it works.

The Zephron rain gear is neoprene coated fabric so it is very tear resistant. I've had the same jacket for 6 years of working in the woods, the pants usually last me a year and a half to two years of heavy bush time. As far as i'm concerned it's the way to go but thats my two cents.

Rain gear is an investment. I bought a pair of Gor-Tex bibs in 1998 at a Bass Pro Shop in Chicago. Paid $300. USD. I've used them on every single fishing trip, camping trip, hiking, skiing, sledding, and they also lived thru 4 yrs guiding in NWT/Nunavut. Still use the bastards. Just hose 'em off, wash 'em when needed, good as new. Friggin luv 'em. 100% water proof and breathable. No gear sweat. I'll never use rubber again.

Hey Fish Assassin, how 'bout Gor-Tex Speedo's?

Thanks guys, I guided with the heavy yellow/green HH stuff...works but sweat like crazy...Wetskins end up soaking it through the a"" if you sit, Viking simular to the HH...I'm looking for something that is "waterproof", light (I like to layer), and will last more than a couple of seasons

The Helly Imperfect would be your answer...great stuff... :)

We wrapped up a guy with 2 garbage bags once because he didnt bring rain gear to the WC... and the heaven's opened up on us...He was my buddies friend from Alberta... what can I say?

Anybody wear Grundens? How heavy are they? Look like they would last a lifetime though....

the Gage brand I mentioned is made by Grundens. I use the Gage shell pant (no bib) and jacket. Sealed seems and a high qualtiy fabric. Im hard on them, no tears or wear and still waterproof. They use them on 'deadliest catch', not that that should be a selling point, but a friend of mine was working the alaskan arm (not fishing, building radio and transmit towers) and he swore by the gear, said he took countless full body waves and he came out dry always. His ringing recomendation lead me to purchase the set. As he said, they hold up to the challenge. The only moisture problem I've had is through the fly, but the bib model would eliminate that. Its my light duty set and I love it, will buy again.

LFS is possibly the largest retailer of their product line.

Recently purchased a set of Cabela's " Dry Plus" raingear. I have to say after wearing just about every type mentioned on this thread over many years iin the bush and on the water,it's the nicest gear I've ever owned. It's light, and most
importantly breathable. For the $250.00 it's worth every penny and I can't see myself wearing that sweaty stuff again!!
