Radar

I'm running Raymarine also.... C-80 multifunction display with RD218 2kW radar, RS125 GPS sensor & DSM300 1kW digital sounder module. The software is Navionics Gold. I also have DSC integrated into the system which of course utilizes my vhf. I've been using the system for 4 years now & am very comfortable with its performance and reliability.... we run "inside" and "offshore.
Like SerengetiGuide, I find the system very user friendly.

I have the exact same setup as nahmint and agree with both of these guys.

I bought a 12 in standard horizon gps/radar combo for my vessel nad im very happy with it the large screen shows great detail for a large area and the radar is very goood, with this I bought the standard horizon vhf to intergrade with the gps giving me AIS on my screen showing me where all commercial traffic is on the water. The great thing about the AIS is you can scroll on top of the commercial boat it will tell you the name of the vessel, its course, its speed over ground ,if your on a collision course with the vessel and how much time you have to impact,so you can get the hell out of the way!!! Also you can talk one to one with the captain of the particular vessel when I was off the west coast this year in the fog this was a great help knowing where those big ships were, just another safety device besides radar.Picked up the whole package for around 5000 with installation from steveston marine go talk to Rahim in vancouver great guy really knows his stuff.
