Radar Reflectors

A detailed and credible review.Thanks.
The tri-lens is reflector that certainly performs well but it's bulky and heavy. I can't see having one stowed or mounted permanently on a small boat - at least I wouldn't. I like the advantage of units like the Echomaster, that they can be collapsed to a very small package. I'm inclined to buy one more unit, then stack the two on a threaded, stainless rod, run through a short piece of PVC pipe with end caps drilled for the rod so I can drop it into the rocket launcher on the hardtop. That would put the 2 reflectors about 10' above the water for visibility extending over 4 miles. Now I gotta try it. :D

I have a Davis aluminum reflector that I clip to my extendable boot hook and stick one of my rocket launchers. The reflector is free to move back and forth about 10-12 feet off the water. Does anyone think this would show up well on other boats radar?

:D Great idea! High is better.

Your dragger would have shown up well even without that

nope , never had a dragger....
but many wooden and glass trollers.
I survived many many yrs. anchoring outside the bank with freighters and russian draggers roaring around us full speed all night long.
I like to be a big blip on the radar screen.
Many small glass boats hardly show unless your full gain and even then they could be clutter or a seagull.
I have a Grady now and with the new alum roof and rack it shows ok , but i will incorporate a reflector also.
Whatever you use , test it well in different sea conditions to make sure your showing up well.
Be safe .
