Question about tying Hoochies

X4 on what demco99 said. Been using quick changes on my hoochie leaders since my commercial trolling days back in
the late 80's.

Hey searun........I don't do eBay much but am I reading it correctly that you get 50 of those for $3.81 US????

Yes, not bad and they work. With the difference in the dollar if you wait a few months they will almost be free. :)

Just thinking of options for you. You might want to check out Pacific Net & Twine. Got my first batch there a long time back, so you never know if they have some new stock now. They were clearing them out back then. Can't beat them for being easy and quick to use.

I find it very interesting that while reading this thread it seems most of you leave the swivel on the flasher and and just clip you leaders to that, while on this thread ( http://www.sportfishingbc.com/forum/showthread.php?20819-Tying-Tackle/page2&highlight=leader) everybody says cut everything off your flasher and put it all on the leader.

What about teaser heads do any of you put a swivel on the end of that? or do you just tie a loop and clip it onto the flasher?

Because of the twist of a teaser head.....I have a swivel at the lead end of the leader which attaches to a "quick change" snap which is on the trailing end of my flasher.

When I say "quick change snap"....I mean one of these " McRoscoe scissor snaps" as there are two products out there I have seen referred to as a quick change.

NOT...one of these which are also referred to as a "quick change" in some circles.

I always put a swivel on everything-even chovie heads-because I never know how I'm going to fish it-ie behind a flasher, above a dummy or shallow behind a banana weight on a centre rod. The only time I ever use loop knots is if I am in a big hurry and I usually don't fish like that. I have 3 to 4 anchovies already loaded in holders sitting in the brine-swivels just over the side of the brine container ready for a quick change and I find that happens quicker and smoother if I can see the swivel.

x2 on that tip Spring Fever! ;)

I've experimented with inserts many times... IMO they are a total waste of time. Adding scent is worth experimenting with....

i use hoochie actuators often with no flasher,, got them from a commy.. kinda like a lil plastic wedge that slides on the nose of the hootch.

I use twinkle skirts all the time. Also, I typically put a few beads in between the twinkle skirt and the first hook on the leader. I like the first hook of a 2-hook setup to just behind the back end of the skirt and the beads are simply spacers to get the hooks back farther. I believe (a word fishermen often use when they don't really know) that added flash from the twinkle skirts increases strikes.
