Going to head up with a buddy mid June for a week. Taking our own boat/gear.

Who's done this tour??

Which locations should we be looking at specifically?

Any tips/heads ups for us? Looking to glean as much info from as many different sources as possible through the planning phase...

Thanks

Jeff

Sorry Jeff, I haven't been up in mid June. I have a buddy who guided up there for 6 years. If you want I can check with him. Pat "Last Cast"

Hey Osama
Myself and some buddys have went up to Masset the last 2 yrs with my boat and have had some pretty good times.
We rent a half a duplex from a guy there, it's actually one of the old PMQ's from when the Airforce was up there. Not real fancy but comfy, everything you need ( bbq, pots, pans, blankets, towels etc )He has a couple of spots at the marina there as well.
Head down to North beach and you can catch crab with a dip net while you wade along the shore. Easy picking's, June might be a little early for that though.
Salmon fishing was good, we were catching quite a few but no monsters. 32 lbs was the biggest. Halibut were everywhere but again no big ones.
We did see some big Springs and Butts come in we just couldn't hook up with any. Lack of experience I think was the biggest problem.

If your going make sure to book the ferry early as it fills up pretty fast. They are supposed to have the bigger ferry running for next year I was told so it might not be as bad.
We will be heading back up again in June and July for a week each month.
PM me if you want the name of the guy with the duplex's for rent.

Hidden Island campsite is just outside of town, nice place as well if you want to camp. Power, shower house, store and lounge all right there. Brian and Deb are the owners, real friendly people.

Jeff,

Give me a call before you go buddy.

Brian and Deb are Dee's Uncle and Aunt.
Barb and Brent are up there now too.

We may even head up there that time of year for a little R&R.

Cheers,

If so, might toss my hat into the fray as well - fishing allowing of course... :D

Cheers,
Nog

I'll tag onto that hat (if there is room)...Keep me in mind Sean as I have built up some points with the better half and would like to cash in. I think I need to square up on a fly rod with you???

Stephen

PS. Call off your hit man.

Good times!

Gonna be arriving on the ferry Sunday June 14 abd rolling out on Thursday the 25 by the looks of things.

C.S. - planning a couple days up in Masset for sure so we'll go out and mash a couple.

Nog'n'Sean - HAHAHAHAHA that would be way to phukin' funny!

Going to do a bit of QCC and Sandspit as well...

It's exciting to get to plan a big trip again. You lose out on that once involved in the provider end of the service.

Jeff,
I talked with the wife last night who then phoned up there to chat with the family and it sounds like this could become a real possibility. We are thinking the last two weeks of June. Then a spending a week or so back in the old stomping grounds.

Nog,
Would be a great place to catch up. Lets make plans....

Hat,
That would be real cool if you could make it up there man.
Email me and I will fill you in with the details as the plan progresses.

Osama
Didn't get a message, sent you one. Let me know if it shows up.
We will likely be up there the same time, have to meet up for a beer.

Interesting.
Anyone planning on running their boats up the inside passage from the south coast?
We've done parts of the passage from both sides and are planning to head up in the spring sometime... basically to Kitimat and Rupert and points between...
Thks for the website Cuba...

Minus tides will make getting out of Masset Harbour interesting....;)

Oh Ya!!!

and the same holds true for getting a boat through Skidegate Narrows too. Even following the range markers, you need to watch your tides there.

Nahmint, we made the trip down from Rupert to Schooner cove back in August, 630 miles. Had a great time. We might make the trip back up in June. All depends on timing I guess.

Osama here's a link for the duplex www.chinooklodge.bc.ca
