ProTroll makes an 11" Flasher called a "ProChip 11" with a kicker fin on the back that they claim can be trolled as slow as 1 mph and will still work normally.

Not debating the merits of "the chip".........just want to know if you have tried this "normal looking" flasher with the kicker fin on the back.....

They also make one called the "Profin 6"...which is supposed to work like a rotating flasher but also has "sidekick" to it.........have you tried these?

If you have.......did it work? did you like it?

I haven't used that brand of flasher, but I've used a similar style with the "kicker fin". It's called a Bechold flasher and
it's made in the U.S. Unlike your standard flasher with the ends bent in opposite directions,it is perfectly flat, tapered
slightly from front to back, and has a "kicker" fin on the bottom that cuts across the blade at an angle. The other cool
thing about it is there's 3 different holes on the very bottom lip to attach your leader to. Each hole gives the leader/
lure combo a different action. The center hole is your standard action, the hole to the inside of the rotation gives it a
tighter action, and the hole to the outside, which was my personal favourite for running anchovys, gives your bait/lure
a wider action.I haven't seen them for sale around here for a long time, but they do still make them,as I've been on
their website recently.

I fish the pro-troll with the kicker fins almost exclusively. A few years back, I ran identical pro-trolls +/- the kicker fins for several days. I switched side on the boat and kept track of the catch rate. The flasher with the fin was 2-3x more effective than the one without. E-chip appeared to make no difference as I also did the experiment w and w/o the e-chip. The kicker fin did appear to make a difference.

I like using those bechold flashers when fishing in a pack

:)

I'd been reading up on the Alaska/American sites and while the Bechold flasher did get favorable reviews, the one thing most didn't like was that they use cheap hardware on 'em and they break/rust out etc. a lot faster than other brands.....

This was back in the 90's when I used them. Had 3 or 4 of them, and used em alot. Finally lost the last one about 5
years ago. They had stainless ball bearing swivels, and with a little regular maintainence with WD-40,never had a
problem. Perhaps they've gone with cheaper hardware,or they're being made in China now, like everything else. Sad to
hear,as they were a hot flasher, well outperforming the conventional types at certain times.
