Prop questions 175 Double Eagle

Nope...no go! The OP has a Yamaha F115, which has a max allowable prop diameter of 14". This prop linked above has a diameter of 15.5"
Good catch; I’m a big fan of the performance characteristics of a larger diameter, less pitch prop but wasn’t aware of the limitations of the F115

Are these props the same series?

Maybe what you’re looking for might be a 19 pitch that has progressive rake. You definetly have your WOT on either prop. I gather you like the bow lift characteristic of that 19. There could be a prop out there with some characteristics you can benefit from. You changed the center of gravity by moving your tank. Which is great. Now it's all about getting a prop that works with your center of gravity. Need to have a prop that progressively digs down. Engine height also dictates this.
Yes same series. Yamaha genuin parts
17 x13.25. 19x 13
Cavitation plate is 1ā€ above keel.
Yes like bow lift and effective tilt range of 19.
My research makes it clear that there are lots of variables and no easy answer.
Any further advice appreciated.

Damn. Diameter was going to be my question. Also did not know there was limitation. Also not clear how diameter changes things. So this prop for sale is for larger motor?

Going up an inch in diameter is somewhat equivalent to adding an inch in pitch. The same applies to going from three to four blades. According to conventional wisdom, either change should be accompanied by a reduction in pitch to achieve a similar result. Of course there are other variables like cup, rake etc.. but these are general guidelines used to narrow your prop selection.

Some prop manufacturers have a prop selector feature that attempts to match your outboard up to your specific boat and use. Many of the performance props are modular in that they just need the matching hub kit to work on your outboard.

I suggest taking note of a few of the prop suggestions generated by these apps then searching some of the online classifieds for them before buying new.

If there is someone on the island that will let you try some props, I would try a 17 3 blade with a progressive rake to it and a slightly large blade area then the yamaha wheels. If you were on the mainland I'd be able to help you.

Thanks. I will look into this with local shops. Maybe Victoria Prop has a demo program.

They don’t. I’ve been down this road earlier this year. I’ve called Vic prop and honestly would say I wasn’t impressed. Left a few voicemails, spoke with someone, they never got back to me. It’s a lonely, Expensive place trying to find a new prop.

If you guys want to make the run up to nanaimo for props I can have them sitting there for pickup. Have to pay for ahead of time of course. IF you keep the box and prop in perfect shape I don't mind a return. Only for the non time wasters of course. That's how I operate here on the mainland. Choosing the right prop and when your really splitting hairs, is tough to get first try.

Engine heights
Boat weight distribution
Boat purpose
Boat type
Engine type

So many factors the list is huge.
