Prop pitch for Double Eagle 185

Want to ask the community as to what prop do they have on their 185 Double Eagle. Mine has a 115 Yamaha 4 stroke. Currently have two aluminums and have ran both. Would like to upgrade to a stainless prop for a little speed & durability.

- 13x19 gives me 25-28mph @ 4300-4500. Takes a bit to get up on step with gear on board but I prefer the top end.

- 13 1/4 x 17 gives me 22-25mph @ 4300-4500. Gets me up on step quicker but slower.

-Those with this boat, what pitch of prop do you currently have on your 185 Double Eagle?

-Is it aluminum or stainless?

-Approximate fuel burn in gallons at 4300-4500rpm?

-Trim tabs yes or no?

One of the most critical factors of prop selection is achieving the rated WOT (wide open throttle) RPM for the engine. Test the boat with a normal load (people, gear, fuel, etc) and see what the WOT RPM is.

Yamaha recommended WOT RPM Range:
F115 year 2000-2014: 5000-6000RPM
F115 year 2015+: 5300-6000RPM

Most people suggest that you aim for the upper half of the range. You need to ensure that you get this right so you're not lugging the motor.

I am running a 14.5 x 19 Ballistic stainless.. 3400 rpm,s roughly gives me 30 mph.
From a 150 etec. WOT is close to 5500 rpm and 52mph. No tabs

Your 19p prop is way under revving and is slipping badly at 25.63 %

Your 17p prop is slipping 25.78 %

Both about the same. Your slip should be down around 10 %

Call powertech propellers and talk to one of there techs and give them this info and they will help make you a decision on what prop they make will best suit your situation. Cant say enough good things about powertech.

Mine has a Solas, stainless 3 blade 13x19, but motor is a Johnston/Suzuki 2007 140 4 stroke, would NOT want less. No idea about fuel burn, just fill when it gets down, roughly same rpm and speed as you post, maybe little less rpm for speed on calm days. No trim tabs, 4 stroke 9.9 plus I do have a heavier than normal welded aluminum hard top. Prop was on boat when I got, never saw a need to change. I prefer to putt along at 3800-4200 @ 22-28 mph over speed demon style.
