Prolonged Effects of Wind......

Think continued prolonged wind blowing has any effect on salmon, fishing, water temp or bait distribution?

pretty strong winds I have seen this month than in previous months. More cancellations of fishing trips! :( true, salmon and other fish species are safe. :)

I don't know about ECVI, but steady periods of strong NW winds = good upwelling of cool, nutrient rich water which is good for the whole food chain on WCVI. No fun to fish in a 17' boat though.

its not windy under the water.....LOL

BUT i will say a SE wind for some reason the salmon bite definitely turns off.....

I believe the big NW blow a week ago caused the massive bloom everyone is talking about.

I used to have a book that went into quite a bit of detail on effects of prolonged strong winds on tidal movements etc etc......

It mentioned in one part about whenever the wind blows strongly ESE mid ECVI for awhile.....the fishing dramatically slows down.

Surface water temp can also be affected by strong prolonged wind.........and tidal flow can be altered to some degree if the wind is long and strong.

Can't remember the name of the book....digging around through mine to find it.
