Prawns from a kayak with foldable trap? I know I'm crazy, but...

It must be possible. I am already building a setup to use on the sailboat with rigid Bauer traps.

BUT I spend a lot of time on kayak trips too...
I know they are inferior, but I am thinking of making a setup with a foldable trap and some poly rope.
Does anyone have experience with the foldable traps? Tricks to make them fish better?
Tricks for wrapping up poly rope around something to spool maybe? Minimal weights?
I'd only drop traps from the kayak in calm waters with minimal currents like around Cortes or Deoslation.

Thanks Prawnstars!

extremely limited experience on a yak but this seems quite dangerous? unstable craft..side pulling 300 feet by hand…rope storage, trap storage. hell of a workout. new regs on traps to be aware about. sash weights on lines could help. be safe! i’m sure someone else has done this!

Biggest issue with folding traps is loose mesh. Current on bottom moves baggy mesh, prawns won't go in. Make sure mesh stretches tight.

Maybe one of those dumb drill pullers would work for this. Less bulky line to deal with and might actually work with no prawns in the trap. 😬
