Prawn traps stuck or too heavy to pull by hand

What’s the shortest soak you’ve found to be productive?
Pull after 45 minutes if trying a new place, if there's nothing then you may as well move. Not "productive" in the sense you were asking about, but saves wasting time on a dry hole.

My experience is a 3 hour soak yields 80-90% of what you'd get if left overnight.

One approach I've used is to go out 1.5-2 hours before a tide change, drop traps, head to a nearby salmon spot to fish the hour or so either side of the slack. Back to traps, empty the catch and reset for overnight. You get two pulls in the one day, plus some fishing, all for about 4 hour time investment. I'll shallow up a bit for the overnight soak since prawns usually migrate upward at night.

Haha right on the money @kaelc !

I’ll be up on the island next weekend though. Would like to give thrasher rock and some of the spots around the gulf islands a try for fishing. Maybe I’ll run into a prawn or two 😁
