What kind of elastic do you guys use for closing up Ladner style prawn traps. I need to replace some that are looking worn.

I previously used some i bought but it rotted out in less than a year.

Thanks

I use retired bicycle inner tubes, cut in thin strips.
Thanks. I see inner tubes and plastic hooks commonly used to hold open the rings so the prawn can enter. I usually use 100 lb braid I strip off my reels to do the same thing and it works great.

What I’m needing is the rope and/or elastic you use to close the trap. The one that cinches the opening shut and you hook onto the frame to keep the mesh tightly closed

Any rot resistant nylon type string/ rope / paracord will work for that. Then a 3-4” piece of rubber/ stretch cord to your hook.
Thanks. I tried some para cord last year which didn’t last the year. I have to find some better stuff. Perhaps nylon cord.
