I am a subscriber to Practical Sailor Magazine. Think a cross between consumer reports and value driven mariners.

They had a very detailed article on Deck Hardware installation (typical article- no advertising allowed and all manufacturers' products used are listed in article). I thought it might be interesting to some members.

I had to re post the article page by page below.

Thanks @Bill 310 this is a great article. I did solid epoxy plugs through my gunwales for downrigger mounts to keep the plywood core dry and improve the strength but wasn't able to retain the existing top later. I need to asses my windlass mount this summer and decide if I replace the old plywood out or just drill out the holes from underneath and fill with epoxy. I really like the backing plates they made, spreads load out nicely over the surface, I might 3d print some moulds for them. Going to look up "deck core repair from underneath" and see what I can see.

There is a free versiono covering highlights

They are now strictly digtal and if you are a paid subscriber you get access to all the back issues. It is $34.00 USD/year right now

There is always enough information in every issue to teach me something. That is not a big task by the way.

Initially, I though that it was going to be mostly sailing but there are are so many boat things that cross the lines and their articles cover all aspects of boating.

I think of it as a Boaters's Consumers Reports on ocassion

I was going to include a series of articles on gear and apparel but when I posted the link it had my personal information attached
