Portage inlet fishing

Anyone ever fished at Portage inlet? Are any herring still there?

The herring run is just from late-February to early April or so. Lots of fun fishing off the Craigflower bridge though, and they did a great job on the replacement bridge.

Herring are pretty much gone. SR cutthroat was good but the wrong crowd discovered them and knocked there population down. The two main creeks, Craigflower and Colquitz have been getting some good coho returns and a few guys exploited them below the Tillicum bridge last Fall. I'd like to see from the harbour up single-barbless and bait ban.

not many herring around in Gorge anymore. back in 20 years that I remember, big schools of herring were all over in the two bridge sections. now zero or few.
