Portable Chart Plotter/gps

What is my best option for a portable (handheld) gps unit to use saltwater fishing around VI in my 14 ft aluminum?

It must have detailed marine charts.

If you have a smart phone or pad with GPS capabilities, you can get the Navionics app for under $60. I use it as a backup with my iPhone and it has every bit as much information as my Garmin 720s

I have a iphone but Doesn 't that only work in areas with cell phone coverage?

If phone is a 4's or newer you don't cell service to have working GPS

Ipads with cellular option also has built in GPS
