Port Renfrew Accommodations

I could use some Help... Please!

I have been fishing the Renfrew area now for a few years, but I have always anchored at Thrasher, staying on my boat. That’s not been a problem since there has only been two or three people.

I now have three confirmed for next year, which I only sleep three comfortably... and possibly 7/8 other individuals with two maybe three boats. The smallest being a 20 footer. I have talked to them about Port Renfrew Marina; however, they don’t want to be landlocked due to a low early tides. Almost all of our fishing is done at daybreak. Sometimes we are done and back in before others finish with breakfast!

What I am wondering does anyone know of a house with dock that I might be able to rent for a week mid August? Or, is there any place to stay in Renfrew that has room for up to 10/12 people... and dock space for a couple of boats? If I find a dock all the boats can be rafted!

I am not sure what’s with the Port Renfrew dock, but the few times I have been there it looks pretty private? Anyone know how to reserve dock space there?

Any help will be greatly appreciated!
Charlie

PS Yes, this is all family and friends!

May be a tough spot for you...docks are far and few between. So I assume you mean that you have checked the tides and it is sub 3' in the morning? That's about minimum to get through the river (and the charters run upwards of 26' and get through).

As for accommodation, that can be tough too as most of the houses for rent are also tied to charters and they would rather not give up the space on the assumption that their charter would want it (especially a week). Doesn't hurt to ask though.

You could try these guys:

We stayed there this year - 12 would be a squeeze, but 10 would work fine - nice place, did the job - think its more independent from charter operations, so shouldn't be an issue. Could also try oceanmist retreat - they have charter with it, but the place is big enough right beside the store - we were able to stay there without charter last year and it was ok (great poker table). There was also a 2nd house of oceanmist that has been bought, torn down, and is being built - that was bought by a realtor and I doubt tied to charter biz, so if they have it built by next year, may be another option (think its 16990 Wickanninish)

As for the dock in Renfrew itself, I think its pretty private but better to get feedback from someone else - we have had the charter guys pick us up there on the low low tides, so it may be exclusive to them.
