port mcneill/ alder bay/ telegraph cove

By the looks of this thread, I am guessing that this was not the best year for springs in area 12. We left Telegraph Cove on the 6th of August with half the number of springs in the ice chest as we normally have. Many others around the docks were saying that the springs were just late this year. Was that the case or did the springs just not show up in the numbers they have in the past? I am sure Sitkaspruse or one of the other resident experts could shed some light on this years spring counts.

Somewhat slow but promising weekend on the backside.
Weather was great on saturday am! Got a bit of a late start but still got setup (1st trip trolling on the new cape cruiser!) an fishing before the high slack. Within the first 30 min we got into 2 small springs, both about 55 or 60 cm and quite dark. A few boats showe up after we got there but didnt see anyone playing anything. Everyone left at shortly after the tide change and we ended up getting another small jack. No keepers but good to see some springs nonetheless after all the doom and gloom talk!

Went out this morning with super high hopes, weather was crap so only trolled for about an hour and ended up getting a small jack before the wind came up enough to convince us to head in early. Only saw one other boat out fishing the whole time today.
