For anyone who is heading that way, the fishing is fairly good. Consistant anyways. I went out 3 of the last 4 days and limited out in chinook behind malcom island . averaging 12-25llbs, lost one hog 35ish at the net, fishing by myself. lots of halibat 8-15lbs too just keep one line 10feet off bottom. I was using an new allure flasher called frenzy and an green anchovy head. good luck

check out www.looksthatkill.ca local guy out of qualicum has some sweet new designs.

I will be up there August 3rd to the 7th, thanks for the report. Will be at Alder Bay who else is fishing that weekend

As Yak said, it is humpy heaven out there right now. The odd spring is around, plus some good coho. Aug first changes to a hatchery only coho fishery, unless DFO changes it, which means there will be a lot of netted, boated, dropped, squeezed, crushed, twisted and man handled dead wild coho around again. Stupid regulation.

There should be some great spring fishing in the next month.

Cheers

I am up here until the 8th. Will be out and about today testing a few spots. In a 2359 trophy with a dinghy on the roof. You in a Kingfisher halilogger?

Picked up a couple 27 lbs springs yesterday, released 6 coho between 7-10 lbs (stupid regulation) and a few pinks.

Was fishing down around Flower and Bold head.

Cheers

What are the latest coho regs? Everything I find on the DFO site says 1 wild, one hatchery for this area, but I'm hearing on the docs that it's hatchery only...wondering where I need to go online to get the correct information.

Wrong area

Here is the link to area 12

Hatchery coho only. It is amazing to see people who still net them, grab them, squeeze them and then throw them over the side..........

Hoochiemoma, that link above will give you everything for area 12. If you hit saltwater fishing on the left hand side, it will go to all the areas on the coast. Should use this link to check before you head out anytime here in BC as they change quite a bit in some areas.

Got back from Alder Bay yesterday had a great trip. Lack of big springs though a few getting caught. Met Halilogger up there with his family. Fished with him yesterday. He picked up a 20 lb spring off Donegal. Then I took him to a Hali spot and he quicly boxed his 3 Chickens. We limited on Hali my bro and son in the 3 days. Tons of humpys and Coho all wild. Lots of releases. Finally met Sikaspruce was good to have a chat with him. My friends from Comox bagged a 103 pd hali on Sat. Was Great weather great scenery lots of Hump back whales all around us in the Fog it was cool. As usual the Alder Bay hospitality was great. My flatlander brother from Calgary came up with a new term for me he swears the Tide lines proper term is Kelp Belts.

Awesome Duffer, great trip!!!!!

Finally good to meet you. Glad to hear you filled the freezer with some white meat to go along with all that red you caught down off Kitty.

It has been slow for springs this time of year, especially with all the bait around. Hopefully it will pick up soon, round 4 of the family visits are here next week.......
