Can you keep wild and/or hatchery coho in Port Hardy this year and is there a sockeye opening ???
.

Talked to a friend at dfo here yedterday, they havent got a soceye announcment yet, but he expects there will be one soon, dont think it will be open for long.

Thanks BearCove.. will be up on the weekend... hope things are picking up.. will be there for 6 days.. will probably get out to Taylor Bank too...I just need a faster boat... ahhh.. not this year !!

Fishing was slow in Port Hardy this past weekend. We fished 2 days and managed 3 springs and a snapper. We got the fish at the Deserters. Duval was dead. Most of the guide boats were going up top and I think they faired better. Weather was nice though. Fished some beautiful areas, Deserters, Millar Group, Jeanettes, Duval. It was just plain old slow. Hopefully will pickup for the weekend. Good luck all

Last year was sort of the same.. slow early, but picked up later in July... here's hoping !

The sites great for finding out info but why ask about regs? They are online and if someone gives you the wrong info your in for trouble. Safest bet is to take a few minutes and look them up.

Funny thing happened the other day after my post about the two wild coho in Area 12. This is wrong info, my bad! It is one and one till Aug 1st, then only hatchery. Just wanted to clear that up. The funny part about this is someone from this site called DFO on me telling them I posted wrong info about coho in Area 12. DFO called me and asked me to correct my post, which I have now done

Two things here, I guess DFO has so much time on their hands and nothing more important to do that a post on this site is top priority.

Secondly, whoever it was that called me in could not bring themselves to repost about my mistake or just PM me about it so I could fix it. Thanks to whoever that is!

Sorry about the posting the wrong info, we all can't be perfect. Kelly had a good point, look up the regs yourself, then your sure.

thats a shame...i know that dfo guys regularly cruise fishing forums and criagslist/usedvictoria etc for any illegal or interesting activities. on a side note i believe you are allowed to keep two hatchery coho in beaver cove which is right beside telegraph

When we were up last week, we didnt get a sniff from a coho. The springs were there, the trick was to find them.;)
