35.9 lb caught on the first day won the derby was on the front page of the alberni times yesterday, good on the guy apparently he was laid off this summer so he spent this entire weekend fishing.

Said he bought another ticket for the last day to keep looking because he was nervous something bigger was going to come in.

2500 fish were weighed in through out the derby.

Derby winning spring was worth $13,000.

Good to see a local one it. Interesting that a 35`er won though. I would have thought my self that a bigger fish would have been caught.
