Those tabs look fine to me, I think the sloped nature of the pod makes it appear the tabs are mounted very high up.

It looks like a hull extension to me. Could be a great option. Almost looks factory

I've been watching hourston boats for a long time and I've never seen one like it. As far as I know they weren't overly interested in doing rebuilds either. The only factory podded boats I've seen look like Armstrong style pods, not integrated into the hull like this one. I think its great as you also have benefit of additional strength with that style. Super nice

This is a 2011 factory pod on a 20' hourston. This is the same as all the others I've seen, and I dont think they went too far out of the box.

Never seen a factory offering like that from Hourston. The small Armstrong style is only one I seen listed when they were still in business.
