Porlier Pass

Going out to porlier pass on saturday, has anyone been out lately? Would thrasher a be a better place for salmon, any info would be great

I have heard some good reports from Thrasher. I haven't heard much good or bad from Porlier.

Thrasher and East Gabriola have been "hit and miss" but with some nice mid twenties fish being caught. There was also 35 lb landed very early on July 10th ....and always a possibility of a Halibut as another one was landed there about a week ago.
I'd love to hear a report from Porlier but have heard nothing on farther south recently.

Last saturday at low slack,(2:30 pm) about 20lb'er close to bottom, in 98ft of water, on chovies. Put up a great fight.

Fished Saturday morn from 5:30 to 11o, not a sniff, 12-15 other boats out but didn't see any nets flying, fished out then close to shore, different lures, hoochies, colors, leader length and depth, nice day though

Were you at Porlier? Somebody must be spreading some rumors around if there were THAT many boats out.

Yes we where right at porlier, yes there were that many boats there, one of the guys on the boat was told that there was a 50# caught (personally don't believe that but could be wrong)and the coho where thick and can't keep them off you line. Story of my life should of been here yesterday lol, might go out again this week or run up to thasher, would there be sockeye around porlier?? I see the fraser had its first gillnet opening as well.

there was no gillnet opening in the fraser they were native food fishing boats sockeye still closed for us sporties
