Plugs... Lots of em

Hey fellas, I am looking for some help here. To make a long story short I purchased a large quantity of Tomic (and some Ace) Plugs from a forum member here and I now have at least 50 different color variations and some in doubles and I don't know wear to start as far as what works better than the next. I will be fishing in and around the Gulf Islands, Barkley Sound, and some occasional West Van trips.

I have numbed groups of 5 for identification purposes. Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks, Boys

The one in #3 on the far left only works for catfish

Wow, that's a selection. Some good one's there. You have too many to comment on. You may want to check the numbers then search prior posts on favorite plugs and there are a number of great west coast fishermen who have listed their best and brightest for everyone to see. There really are no secrets, those posts pretty much lay it all out there. The next thing is to pay close attention to how to properly fish them. A number of good tips posted including debates on pulled pin or not.

Good luck,

Use the smaller ones Inside/along West Van I'd go with the smaller Green/White ones in lot #5 but they're all quality lures that's for sure-I can't see one I wouldn't use anywhere any time.

The three on the left side of photo 1 have been pulled alot. hard to tell in photo but if all the other scratches are teeth marks, they are proven swimmers, good west coast plugs.

Haha, Ya the cat snuck in there on that one lol. It's good to know that there are some keepers here. They were ex-commercial plugs and I cleaned them up with a Mr.Clean eraser pad. It is going to boggle my mind fishing 1 over the next as it will be in the back of my mind that there is a better one in my box!

I wanted to add that I have the guys # if anyone wants to pm me, Should be able to swing them for 1 buck a piece but you will have to negotiate that. He's got around 600 7" tomics left. Some are beat pretty bad but I was able to pic through them and get what I thought might catch fish.

Here are a couple more pics...
The plug in the right hand batch on bottom left placed horizontally looks
like an 84FLGPS. This has been a good producer off Victoria waterfront
in the winter. Mine is chewed up and much of the paint has worn off
but it still catches fish.

The next thing is to pay close attention to how to properly fish them. A number of good tips posted including debates on pulled pin or not.

I think that for most of them the elastic band method will be my only option. 75% of them are the old tow bar style and not the newer "pin" that can be removed.

They are all junk. You should just trade them all to me for 2 packs of anchovies....... Thats just how I roll...<((((><

I have had great success with plugs that are primarily white with pink in them when fishing for Chinook inside of China Creek late in the season. Even last year when there were hardly any we picked one up when fishing for sockeye. Had a plug down with the rest being sockeye gear and nailed a spring.
We don't use the elastic, just straight off the pin. We were going sockeye speed. In other years when there have been fish in numbers we've caught many with that method. Not sure what the number of the plug is, would have to go out to the shop and look, but you have a couple that look similar.

Thanks for all of the Helpful reply's and the sarcasm guys. I think that during a trip this year we will have to devote 1 full day to pulling plugs and rotate them often to find out what is going to produce. Most likely a day that we have our possession limits filled with all but 1 slot and save it for a lunker.
